Ruben Amorim: Why Would I Want to Coach Manchester United? Here’s What the Sporting Manager Said.

Ruben Amorim has hinted at his willingness to leave Sporting Lisbon for Manchester United following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal from the club. Ten Hag was sacked earlier this week, leading to Ruud van Nistelrooy taking temporary charge as interim manager. Amid ongoing speculation about his future, Amorim expressed his love for the Premier League and acknowledged that he felt something was lacking in his current situation.

In a recent media statement, Amorim said, “In life, there are always phases where everything is going very well, but there is something missing, and we want to move forward, not knowing if we will ruin what we have.” When discussing negotiations with Manchester United, he noted, “This is a negotiation between two clubs, and it’s never easy, even with a release clause. After the match, we will know all clarifications; one more day and everything will be clear.”

Regarding his affection for the Premier League, he stated, “Everything!” highlighting his enthusiasm for the competition.

Currently, Manchester United has reportedly agreed to pay Sporting a compensation fee of £9.2 million to secure Amorim’s services. However, the 39-year-old will not immediately take over managerial duties. Following a summer spending spree of around £200 million on new players, Amorim is expected to revitalize the squad, which is currently languishing in 14th place in the Premier League.

Before Amorim’s potential arrival, Van Nistelrooy is set to lead the team in their next match against Chelsea at Old Trafford on November 3, followed by a Europa League clash with PAOK on November 8.
