The Dallas Cowboys may not have earned any style points for their win on “Thursday Night Football,” but they were content with the sloppy victory that snapped a two-game losing streak.
The Cowboys defeated the New York Giants 20-15 in a penalty-filled contest at MetLife Stadium, with both teams combining for 15 penalties (11 of which were called on the Cowboys).
First-half touchdowns from Rico Dowdle and CeeDee Lamb gave Dallas a 14-6 lead in the second quarter, which proved to be insurmountable for the Giants. The Giants’ offense failed to find the end zone and instead relied on five field goals from kicker Greg Joseph, which wasn’t enough to challenge the Cowboys’ potent offense.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott finished the game completing 22 of 27 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns. Lamb ended the game with seven catches for 98 yards and a touchdown. Prescott has now won 13 consecutive starts against the Giants.
The Giants’ offense struggled to generate any big plays. Quarterback Daniel Jones passed for 281 yards on 29 completions. Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers caught 12 passes for 115 yards but was later taken to the locker room with a concussion. Running back Devin Singletary (14 carries, 24 yards) had difficulty against a Cowboys defense that had allowed 274 rushing yards the previous week.
The win improved the Cowboys’ record to 2-2, while the Giants dropped to 1-3, placing them at the bottom of the NFC East standings.
Looking ahead, the Cowboys will be concerned about injuries to defensive stars Micah Parsons — who was carted off the field late in the game — and DeMarcus Lawrence.
