The Argentine international has participated in all 14 matches for The Reds so far in the 2024-25 season, under the watchful eye of head coach Arne Slot, who has overseen 12 victories, one draw, and just one defeat.
The latest win was a thrilling 3-2 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion, Mac Allister’s former club, in the Carabao Cup earlier this week.
Liverpool and the Seagulls will face each other again at Anfield this Saturday afternoon, and Mac Allister is eager to continue contributing from his midfield position.
Reflecting on his performances this season, the No. 10 stated to LiverpoolFC.com:
“I feel great. Recovery is key, and I’m trying to do what’s necessary to recover well. Sometimes it’s challenging because there isn’t much time. But I’m very happy, and whenever I feel fit, the manager knows I’m there to help the team.”
He added, “That’s all I want: to play, to feel important, and to try to help the team. So far, I think I’ve done pretty well.”
In further comments before the match against Brighton, he shared his thoughts on their recent encounter, noting that while the final moments became a bit more tense than desired, the performance and result were commendable.
“It was a very good result, a great victory for us. For us, every trophy we can win is significant, so it was an outstanding outcome against a very good team. You could see how well they play. It was also a great opportunity for some players who haven’t featured much to get some minutes and perform well, so I’m really pleased for them.”
Reflecting on the warm welcome he received from Brighton fans during warm-ups, he said, “It’s always nice to go back and see the love we have for each other. Brighton gave me the chance to play in the Premier League, and I had some special moments with them. It’s always heartwarming to return and see familiar faces, especially the fans. Every time I go back, the reception is amazing. They know how much I care for them; it’s a special club for me.”
As Liverpool prepares to meet Brighton again, he recognizes the unusual situation of facing the same team twice in quick succession. He expressed that while there are lessons to be taken from their last match, it’s a fresh game.
“It’s a new match. We can take some things from Wednesday, but they will do the same. In that regard, it’s quite even. However, I expect them to change a lot; some regular starters didn’t play on Wednesday, so we anticipate a different lineup, yet the matchup remains the same as we both have a clear vision of what we want to execute on the pitch. It will be a challenging game because they have excellent players and a clear plan. We’ve been working on what we want to do and will strive to win.”
He also addressed the current hectic phase of the season, emphasizing the importance of recovery due to the tight schedule. “Recovery is key since there isn’t much time between games. There’s little room for training; we need to rest, recover, and be ready to go again. We had a great session today to prepare for the match, and that’s all we can do.”
With a quarter of the Premier League season behind them, he shared his thoughts on the team’s position. “When you’re at a club like Liverpool, you should be at the top. We’re there, competing against very good teams, so I believe we’re where we expect to be. Yet, we know this is a long year with many matches ahead, including an international break. I wouldn’t say this is the moment to determine if we’re ready to win something; perhaps by January or February, we’ll see — hopefully at the top.”
He mentioned the upcoming three consecutive home matches at Anfield before the break, seeing it as a fantastic opportunity to build positive momentum. “Absolutely. We know we’re stronger at Anfield than away because of our supporters. We need to play our game, implement our strategies, and I’m confident the fans will be behind us. That’s definitely an advantage; playing at home is always special.
